We're a small community based on Super Smash Bros. Brawl. We have a ranking system, but it doesn't matter.

That's right, the rankings are like the Wii Remote Jacket: nobody cares.

If you're seeing this, that means you're a guest, which means you either haven't signed up or you haven't signed in. Unfortunately, we've had to disable guest posting, so if you want to contribute to our community, you'll need to have an account. If you make a new account with us, you'll be limited to posting in the Beginners forum. Once you make just one post there, you'll become a full-fledged member, and you can post wherever (and almost whatever) you want.

We look forward to brawling with you!

Since no one seems to be offering any comments on the blog itself, I'll ask here: are tournaments with entry fees a good idea? There are obviously some cons: I hope you members trust us, but guests will probably be worried about being... conned. Also, considering how shaky online can be, how many people would be willing to put money on it?

The poll question says it all, really.

Uh, well *I* probably wouldn't enter any considering... I suck and I'd have no chance of winning it back. So I'd want you to keep your promise of holding non entry fee required tournaments as well. :B

But you have given out a lot of cash prizes before, so I'd say you have enough credibility to ask for entry fees.

Well, I wouldn't say no to something like that. If people want to pay money in order to win big, they have that right. If they don't they don't want to, they don't have to.

I agree with K Fox. Some tourneys with fees would be a good thing. You could use the fees to have larger prizes. Larger prizes=more publicity. But also, if they all had fees I would never come out (assuming I ever got around to buying a WII).

Well, in the blog entry, I promised that the free tournaments would always be there -- entry-fee tournaments would always run simultaneously with our usual tournaments, and you're not barred from entering one if you enter the other.

I think this would be a... good...? No, really there's no good time for this, but any point after this will probably be worse. Budget's getting tight, you see. We're working on a solution (for instance, I'm trying to get an actual job) but if we can't do something about it soon... free prize tournaments might get put on hold for a while.

Of course, we'll still have free tournaments, just... not for monetary prizes... temporarily. And we don't know if that'll happen yet, either.

I'm looking for a job, too, every day, but pickings are slim.

Yeah, that's totally understandable. Just keep the for-fun tournies around too. =D

Personally, I like the free tournies just as much as the prize tournies. I'm just a little more disappointed to lose the prize ones.

And yea, online is...really shakey. I'm not sure I'd be totally thrilled to put up money on such an unstable thing. That's sort of like putting money on race horses and come to find out all the horses are blind; sure, one'll win eventually and it'd be hella interesting to watch, but it's not something you want money riding on.

But hey, go for. Worst that could happen is no one enters. In which case nothing earned, nothing lost eh?

M3ment0 Mori (2:02:31 PM): How many people do you think would pay an entry fee? >_>
KiteKirby (2:02:52 PM): for an online tourney, I would say not many
M3ment0 Mori (2:03:07 PM): I guess they'd be worried about getting scammed.
KiteKirby (2:04:10 PM): that, and I would guess that people wouldn't want to pay for a tourney where something like Wifi is an unknown variable in matches
