So I started playing this game today. I got through the prologue, and I've already WTFed several times. Seriously, how can Jeigan be that bad? His stats, except for Res, are as good as or worse than those of my level 4 Cavaliers. Also, I understand what BS meant when he said the Rapier sucks. 28 uses? |

Why do you think they call every sucky prepromote a 'Jeigan'? There's no sucky prepromote suckier than Jeigan himself. |

It's true. Not even Zealot or FE6 Marcus can compare to Jeigan's almighty level of fail. Anyway, I got this game today, and I must say, it is probably the most boring game I've played in a while. This might be because I've only played the super crappy Prologue ( There was only one good moment in the entire thing, and that was Jagen asking Cain if he could hold off bleeding to death for a while longer. ), but seriously, even the gameplay feels more boring. Maybe it's because they screwed up the Avoid formula so there aren't any risks to take anymore. Instead you just watching an endless parade of crappy enemies tink every member of your party, even at base level. Edited by Sock, Feb 22 2009, 08:57 PM.

Okay, I've managed to get farther into the game now ( Chapter 8. I'm screwing around in the arena to get some money since I wasted all mine on kickass forge weapons. ), and it's still really boring. Avoid is nonexistent even on people like Caeda and Julian, which is ridiculous, and Wolf and Sedgar are starting to become uber due to their broken growths. A few other things I noticed: - They nerfed healing for literally no reason whatsoever. Seriously, give me one reason that all that was needed. Not only did they reduce the base value of each staves' heal, but they also decided it was necessary to cut Magic in half for the equation. - Warp is ridiculously broken. - Half the characters you get are complete ****. Good thing they don't get much dialogue or development. Otherwise I'd feel guilty killing them off. - Athena is really weird. Methinks she is on a few drugs. - Caeda as a Mage is one of the few decent reclass options. The others I've found are Navarre to Cav, Merric to Priest ( For the Exp. gain. He grows really quickly since healing is crazy like that. ), and of course, Wolf/Sedgar to General/Hero. - Everyone and their mother likes being RNG-screwed in this game. Seriously, I've had at least 10 no stat gain level ups. |

I promoted Navarre to Swordmaster the next chapter that had an Arena after getting a promotion item. I was gonna just duo him + Marth for the rest of the game, but I just realized how AWESOME Julian is. He's like the next Colm. That, and well, I just haven't really bothered to cut down on all the units. And Thoron is what's broken in this game. 13 Mt, 100 Hit, and +10 Crit? Hell yeah. Edit: CHAPTER 16. OMFG. COOLEST. UNIT. EVER. Edited by Berserker Swordsman, Mar 7 2009, 04:38 PM.

Ah, you mean Xane, BS? Yeah, it's a shame they never used that concept outside of Marth's games. And technically, Colm is a Julian-type character, not the other way around. My best units right now are Marth, Frey (first char I promoted... why did this guy have to be the canon char they killed off? He's the best Cavalier!), Rena (second char I promoted; Sock's right, healing is a great way to gain EXP; I'm considering reclassing Merric so he can get the EXP before becoming a Sage), and of course, Wolf and Sedgar. I plan to use Merric, Barst, Xane (when I get him), Caeda, Julian (for Thief stuff) and maybe Abel, Beck, and Ogma as well. Of recruitable units, I've only lost Matthis (his own fault; attacking Ogma when Draug is right there, seriously) and Jake (admittedly my own fault; luckily Beck is better). |

I have no idea who Xane is, cuz I'm playing the Japanese version (the character I'm referring to is Cheyney, or at least that's how the katakana reads). >_> And I'm pretty sure they tweaked some characters' growths around in this remake, so Julian could be a Colm. Edit: Yeah, Julian's Str growth got nerfed from 70% to 50%, according to Serenes Forest. So he's much closer to Colm now than he was before. Overall, he's actually got better growths than Colm O.o He's got +10% Str/Skl, -15% Spd, +25% Luck (O.O EVEN BETTER GROWTH THAN MIST), +5% Def, and Res is lulz to compare. That 70% growth in Str before is ridiculous for a Thief, though. Edited by Berserker Swordsman, Mar 7 2009, 07:25 PM.

Yeah, that's Xane; the character who can morph into other characters... Anyways, I finished the game. Medeus was no match for Tiki and Marth. Granted, I gave Tiki a good heap of favouritism... then again, you could say I also did for Marth, and Caeda, and Merric, and even Elice since I got her to level 20 and promoted her in the chapter she joined... Frey and Barst I didn't, they're just awesome to begin with. My top 5: 5. Merric (Reclassed to Curate midgame to raise levels, then back to Mage, then promoted to Sage) 4. Caeda (I kept her a Peg. Knight... with a bit of favouritism and thanks to the Wing Spear, she was a powerful Dracoknight) 3. Barst (Reclassed to Hero, since they have far better stats; was still an axe user) 2. Marth 1. FREY!!!!!!!! ... I wonder what I would do if I ever play Hard, no Frey there... Honourable Mentions: Beck, Tiki, Rena, Xane, Elice (For being good support for the last two chapters), Wolf and Sedgar (for being really useful in the early part for weakening and shielding) Also, Ballisticians are awesome. Beck was incredible; why did they have to replace these guys with the less useful Ballistae in the other games? One more note: I got to revive Jake! Why can't there be a revival staff in the GBA/Radiant games, even if it is only one use? |

Well, not EVERYONE does, Vyse. It's actually an improvement over FE1's growths for the most part (Res growth doesn't exist AT ALL in that game, and only the last character actually started off with any Res) Anyways, I'm doing my Gaiden runthrough now. I'm using many of the same units that I used the last time; some notable exceptions are I'm using Ogma as a full-fledged character now (and he's quite good, on par with Barst), and I'm using Jake instead of Beck (they're pretty much equal aside from joining time and starting weapons, and the latter you can transfer), and I'm keeping all the Gaiden characters (Athena I've promoted, and Horace is a decent wall) Those generic units made pretty good bait/meatshields, though. |

Screw you. That was me when Barts decided to say "Screw you" in the arena when he was one hit away from level 20 to promote. ******* RNG. Edited by Berserker Swordsman, Mar 23 2009, 05:52 PM.

I would also like to point out how Res got nerfed as well, it's nearly nonexistent, and while it may be great for Merric and co. , it's no fun tanking with a sage, who somehow has a ridiculous amount of def AND res, and somehow manages to pick off everything because the highest amount of res I've seen on any unit that wasn't mine, is like 9 or 11. Furthermore, it's sad that a swarm spell can deal almost 15 damage consistently, due to the lack of res. |

Has anyone tried online yet? Based on what I've read on GFAQs it seems like a giant forged Brave fest with some ballisticians/long range magic thrown in. Needless to say, I'm gonna get in on that. >_> |

Finally finished it. The final chapter itself was actually harder than the final boss. Boss: WKRAFOAKFAOWK-*attacks* Marth: Bitch, please. *dodge* NOW YOU DIE! *hit, CRITICAL FINISH* Me: ...Did I play through this entire game just for that? Wow, that was stupid. |

Has FE ever really had hard final bosses? The only ones that spring to mind as hard are Ashnard and Ashera. DK required little more than bum rushing him with Ephy and a few others, the dragon in FE7 could get pwn'd by Luna, and Roy made Idoun his ***** with the SoS. I haven't quite gotten to the end of 4 and 5, but from what I've heard 4's final boss is only a problem if you don't have a certain tome and 5's last boss isn't really hard at all. Anyway, I started a run on H5 a few days ago, and I must say, it is not nearly as hard as people claim it is. It's really more tedious than anything, since you're pretty much forced to lure the enemy out one by one. |

I've beaten Fortimortiis, Idoun, and the FE7 dragon in one round. The only ones I've fought that haven't gone down in one round are, as Sock mentioned, Ashnard and Ashera (the latter would be pretty much impossible to do) |

Eh, maybe it's just because the other games have merit (except FE6) that I think beating their final bosses in one round is gimmicky...I mean, the chance of Eliwood, Lyn, or Hector OHKOing the Dragon is slim to none. But with Falchion, it's just that easy...Either way, I can see what you mean, though. They fixed the "LOL THERE'S A FATAL WEAK SPOT ON THIS BOSS" with PoR and RD. I think HM Ashnard is probably the best final boss out of the FE series. Not too hard, but you'd be crazy to think that your strongest characters can just gang up on him. |

For me, fighting HM Ashnard basically boiled down to "have two high-evasion units, the royal, and Ike surround him so that he can't fly around and vaporize my other hapless units. Spam Physic and pray to Ashera you kill him before the staves break." |
