This will probably never happen in a real FE game, but I thought it would be cool to hear what other people think about this. Basically, i was thinking about how the Vantage scroll changed into a chance-ridden skill from FE9 to FE10. And I thought....Why not just eliminate the scroll and give certain units more priority towards attack, like Assassins and Swordmasters? Seriously, if a big, bulky General walks up to you on the battlefield, turn-based or not, you should be attacking first if you're so speedy. So then I thought of a system that could work on this. It would be a type of "awareness" system that's built into certain character classes, where you have a certain probability of attacking first (or a built-in FE10 Vantage skill). Depending on the difference in class (and a few other factors), certain units will always get to attack first in a battle, whether they're on the receiving end of an attack, or forcing the battle in the first place. Of course, it won't happen too often, as that would make certain units broken (*coughShinonRolfDoubleBowcough*), but a high Luck stat and even an optimal Biorythym would give you a pretty good chance of pulling it off. No more Generals walking slowly across the battlefield only to miss, because MIA JUST ASTRA'D YO FACE! Just a few things I thought should be addressed with this... -Should the Luck stat contribute too? Because units like Mist could be doing this often, even if the innate chance is rather low (since she's mounted, she doesn't really get priority over other characters in sensing incoming attacks). -I'm thinking Laguz would have the highest innate awareness due to their heightened senses, Cat Laguz in particular. In a battle with a lot of units, though, how would Herons fare? Maybe heightened evasion instead? All that chaotic energy could either destroy their senses or heighten them to painful levels. -Would anyone be interested in seeing how I match up classes in order of innate awareness and highest-to-lowest awareness matchups? |

Hmmm... I have a problem with this. Thing is, the high-speed classes are the ones who least need a special boost for this. If anything, it's the low-speed classes who need a new ability; Speed already plays a disproportionate value compared to other stats, and a low-speed character needs to have virtually every other stat to be good to be viable. It might work out, but only if classes that are typically slow and have other good stats also have something to help them. |

Hmm...The only thing I could think of would be that Knights/Generals could have a possibility of heightened defense due to their armor and such. And remember, it's just a chance of it happening. The highest innate chance (Trueblade vs Sword Knight) would be only around 25% or so for the Trueblade. |

Isn't Vantage's chance of activation just Speed as a percent? I like the idea of having class-specific skills that aren't broken (RD) or completely useless (Sacred Stones, except Silencer). However, considering that Trueblades, Sentinels, and Marksmen are already near-impossible to hit anyway, letting those classes have an innate chance of denying the enemy even a chance to attack... seems a bit much. It's a good idea in theory, though, and would add some much-needed realism.... One idea I just had... In every stage (except the desert), there is something that can cast shadows. Trees, walls, bushes, houses, etc. Thieves/Rogues/Whispers who stand in these shadows get an automatic Shade/Stillness (haven't decided which). |
