Haar is now my favourite FE unit, period. He is a flying tank of destruction. Haar was my #2 killer in my first (and so far only) playthrough (1st was Ike). He is just so useful in Parts 2 & 3 (Ike's team is overpowered anyways, but Haar especially). He was the second person I brought to third tier (Titania being the first).

Haar is a dragon-riding pirate who likes to sleep, has a good sense of humor, and has interesting late boss conversations. He's frigging awesome.

If his Spd cap were higher, I'd say he's a unit on par with Ike and Mia...However, he's an amazing unit nonetheless. Movement, Canto, axes and lances, most always hits (hard, too), and he even has an awesome inspirational quote...

Marcia: What kind of man are you?!
Haar: A man who lives to sleep another day.

He's also one of those characters that IS seems to have played favorites over....There's a special batch of characters that get insight on their past and character without supports, and he's one of them. Now, if only Mia got that treatment....=(

In my current 2nd playthrough, Haar was the first person to reach 3rd tier. I used BEXP and a crown in 3-4 (I'm on 3-7 now), and now he just flies around breaking people (and the game) in half. I've never used him in PoR; was he even close to this good in that game?

BS, you're definitely right about IS playing favorites with Haar's development. Jill talks about him in Part 1, his recruitment convo is good, he has several base conversations (and he might have more; remember, I'm on 3-7 right now), he has a few speaking roles in the main story (mainly Part 2, from what I've seen), and, like SD pointed out, he has special convos with several bosses.

Speaking of 3-7, 3-6 was a joke. Nolan and Aran, with their A support, held the north side, with Laura in the rear providing healing. For some reason, the enemies focused completely on Aran despite doing practically no damage (7-8 for tigers on his 38 health, 0 for cats), so they were able to hold the line and rack up lots of EXP, Aran especially. I gave Jill Beastfoe and sent her east, watching in awe as she did 40+ damage with a Steel Axe, usually OHKOing cats (which couldn't do any damage to her, btw). Eddie and Leo went with her (Leo was a level 10 Archer; I only brought him for his A support with Eddie), and Caladbolg destroyed tigers as though they were common Fighters. Micaiah went, too, to provide healing with her Mend and Physic and to score the occasional KO with her max crit forged Light tome. With that, the +10 crit from her Bond bonus with Sothe, and Adept, she got several kills. Volug went that way, too, for his superior vision in FoW.

I started with Aran and Nolan at 20/2, Jill at 20/3, and Eddie (with Paragon) at 20/4. Micaiah was at 20/1, of course. At chapter's end, Aran, Jill, and Eddie were level 9, Nolan was level 5, and Micaiah was level 3. And their levelups were amazing.

Wait, wait... what difficulty are you on? I did NOT have those levels at that point. And no, I didn't overuse the Burger King.

Normal. I just never used Volug, Tauroneo, Zihark, Meg, Sothe (besides supporting Micaiah), or any of the other absurdly strong units. Also, I knew from prior experience that Leo would not turn out well, so I used him only for weakening. So the good units -- Aran, Micaiah, Eddie, Nolan, and Jill -- got the bulk of the EXP.

Well, I used Nailah and Tormod a lot in 1-8, the swamp level. There were just too many enemies for four units (Mickey, Eddie, Nolan, and Aran) to deal with.

Not really, but that's probably just because of FE9's large amount of pwnsome units. Haar still makes for decent filler, but his inability to double stops him from being awesome.

Anyway, I also became a huge fan of Haar upon playing FE10, and I'm betting I'll love him even more once I get to him in my HM playthrough ( Currently at the end of Part 1, where I'm going to spend some time abusing Jarod so people besides Nolan and Jill can promote and so Eddie and Leo can actually help in the Part 3 chapters. ).

So Jill is definitely better. Gotcha.

I'm considering doing my HM run after my current one, using the same transfer file I'm using for this one. Nothing like getting Ike, Soren, Jill, Mia, Neph, Boyd, and Kieran some boosts...

So I'm at 3-11, and the Royal Knights have just joined. They had a Nullify in their convoy, won during 2-E. I gave it to Haar.

...Yeah.

I'll be starting 3-13 the next time I fire up the Wii (which will be at college! Yaaaay). Time for Eddie the Trueblade to singlehandedly own Soren and Ike. Again.

Fun times.

Be glad that Haar doesn't show up in that Chapter. Be VERY glad.

More unbalanced development for Haar. I just had him attack Lekain in 4-E-1.

Haar: Why is it that authority figures are always so unwilling to let go of their power? The world could flip upside down and you'd be trying to boss around gravity.
Lekain: You clearly know nothing of me, lout! To oppose me is to oppose the goddess Ashera herself!
Haar: That's strange... I always thought that role was filled by the apostle. But who can keep up these days? So you're defending the goddess... but will she do the same for you?

BTW, at this point, Jill is better than Haar. Haar has more Str, but Jill has four points of speed, three skill, eight luck, and eight res on him... And they're only three levels apart.

Transfer bonuses make for an interesting game...

I wish I had Transfer Bonuses... I had a godly Gatrie in PoR (capped everything but Res), and it would make Gatrie even more awesome than he already is in RD.

No, because I don't have access to my Gamecube or my games. They're in Peru, along with my DS.

WTF HETZEL, TOO!?

Hetzel: Wait... I remember you... You were one of the dracoknights that fled to Daein, defying the senators... You opposed the almighty Begnion and the word of the goddess... Why? Why would you defy such power?
Haar: You could live another lifetime, and you'd still never understand.

He then activated Stun and OHKOed. :D

...And Levail...

Levail: Captain Haar! You are still alive!
Haar: What happened that you didn't expect me to survive?
Levail: Um... Nothing, I suppose. It's just that it's been a while since you left Begnion.
Haar: Yeah. Twenty years ago, wasn't it?
Levail: I was still very young at the time. You had just been dubbed a knight. Oh, it brings back such memories... The bravery of the dracoknights, especially the Fizzart Platoon. It was legendary among the soldiers. But then you suddenly defected to Daein.
Haar: I got sick of taking orders from corrupt senators, so I ditched the country with General Shiharam.
Levail: I joined the army after I came of age. But it was different after you all left. It was as if you took its spirit with you. The only exception was General Zelgius, the general of Duke Persis's army.
Haar: I see. Is that why you're under his command?
Levail: Yes. He is the last true knight. I will die for him.
Haar: Yes, Levail. You will.
Levail: How I dreamed of fighting a proper foe! I am honored, Sir Haar! Have at you!

For starters, Haar's last line is badass. Also, that convo was very long and very detailed. It should also be noted that I'm not trying to attack every boss with Haar. It just works out that way.

This is just insane. Good convo, though.

(BTW, Haar doubled him, but couldn't kill him. Cancel -> Crit. Lawl.)
