We're a small community based on Super Smash Bros. Brawl. We have a ranking system, but it doesn't matter.

That's right, the rankings are like the Wii Remote Jacket: nobody cares.

If you're seeing this, that means you're a guest, which means you either haven't signed up or you haven't signed in. Unfortunately, we've had to disable guest posting, so if you want to contribute to our community, you'll need to have an account. If you make a new account with us, you'll be limited to posting in the Beginners forum. Once you make just one post there, you'll become a full-fledged member, and you can post wherever (and almost whatever) you want.

We look forward to brawling with you!

In addition to the set date.

Anyone not present within fifteen minutes of the set time will be disqualified.

The time will be set when the tournament is announced, so do not sign up if you know you will not be available.

With any luck, we can do tournaments in a single day. As opposed to, you know, a month or more.

If this doesn't work, we'll try something else.

Wow, ten minutes?

... but, at the current rate of tourney progression, it`s probably necessary.

Yeah, maybe 10 is a bit harsh, considering this is a new policy...

Fifteen minutes, then.

glad to see something is being done.

am i right to assume that sudden emergencies are the only exception to the rule?

Right... 15 minutes is much better then 10.

I'm not opposed to the rule... but excluding people from tournaments because they can't show up in THAT time, but can show up maybe an hour later, isn't exactly logical...

Can't please everyone. *shrug*

The times will be, to an extent, flexible. If moving it to an hour later allows someone to join, and everyone else joining is fine with it, then it can be moved. Once the time is set, though, it is set.

I don't know if you realize how ridiculous this is sounding... The problem you've had is not times, it's carrying out the force on people who don't follow the day set rule.

15 minutes is harsh, I'd say at least an hour leeway on either side of it, to have a time agreed on by the participating parties, meaning. I'm fighting Bagel, so we say... half an hour before set time, get our fight over with then, and it's all good. Next fight is against say Doob, we say half an hour after set time, it's all good. Half an hour isn't a long time period to do things.

Hey, look, I can make hypothetical situations to justify whatever point I'm trying to make, too! But I won't, because they aren't worth shit.

At least I'm attempting to justify a point. Punishment shouldn't be brought upon the whole of a people because you all failed to exact punishment upon those who disobeyed.

LOL at this being a "punishment." We're just trying something new.

It'll screw over tournaments in the opposite way, I'm sure.

Aren't worth shit, eh?

Okay, let's say there's a killer on the loose with a sniper rifle, and he lives in your town. He knows where you live, and he's got a bounty on your head. You know he's going after you, but there's nothing you can do, and the police don't believe you. You look out the window, and you see a shadow lurking in the trees. Should you do something?

No, because hypothetical situations aren't worth shit.

Because having all the entrants present at the same time so all the matches can get done within, at most, a few hours... is a bad thing...?

And, in fact, I won't. Zeke and I are the admins. We're doing this. If it doesn't work out for whatever reason, we'll try something different.

Like I said in the very first fsking post.

I don't particularly give a shit about that. It's just a character. Get over yourselves.

Guys, if it's a set time, you can give leeway about it, you know.....You don't just show up 2 hours into the tourney, and go "HEY LOOK I HAD AN EMERGENCY!" Tell people.

Seriously, you all are being ridiculous about this. I've been in three tourneys on AiB with set times, and all you had to do was TELL someone if you were going to be late. And 15 minutes is all you should need to notify someone, much less the entire day before that set time.

So we're aiming to become like other Brawl sites, is that it? I wasn't aware, my apologies.

...It's not just Brawl sites that do it. Anything that has a set time gives leeway for maybe 15-20 minutes before it moves on. That's what set times mean.

It's flexible as long as you give people notice. I'm sure someone won't mind waiting an extra 5 minutes for you, but if you have to show up 3 hours later, then you really shouldn't bother to sign up for it.

Yeah, BS is right. Jin, it's just a way to prevent tourneys from going on for far too long, that's all. Surely we can all agree to that, can we?

The point is... having set dates hasn't stopped tournaments from going long before.

Plan ahead. At most, these tourneys should only go a couple of days past, and people who would not be there for even those couple of days would most likely be DQ'd by the set time + late time. The set time isn't just to know who's going to be here, you START the matches right there.
