The most recent one, the Rosa Farrell hack, is easily the most impressive, just because of the new things they've employed.

I have GIMP now (yay freeware). I'm a total n00b at this stuff, but I think I'd like to at least try my hand at this texture hacking thing. I feel like a bit of a moocher, taking the hard work of all the people at the KittyCorp forum without contributing anything of my own. These are the ideas stirring in my head: Neku Sakuraba as Lucas. - Eh, this ended up being mediocre, so I scrapped it. Ness/Lucas hacks aren't for me. Lloyd Irving as Pit. This works perfectly with the two swords, especially if I can apply the rainbow effect to his wings. - Done! Vyse as Pit. Durr. - Done! Fina as Zelda. - Done! Isaac as Marth. Asch as Marth. - Done! Colette/Sheena as Zelda/Sheik. (This one is probably too ambitious; the others might involve transparency, but making a decent Colette will definitely require transparency on Zelda's dress, and by all accounts transparency is an enormous pain.) Felix as Ike. (A revival of ]EE['s texture.) ZSS as Chell (main character of Portal). - Done! I'd like to see if I can give Pokemon Trainer a costume similar to the main character from Pokemon Colosseum. Serge as Pit. (Another ]EE[ revival.) Zetta (Sho Fan) Ness - Done. OK, this is way harder than I thought. I actually did a pretty successful recolor of Ness's hat -- I made it black and added a pi image, with Doob's help -- but now it's got three layers instead of one, and the file size is about six times larger than it was at the start. I know enough about this to be certain that the ending file size can't be bigger than the starting (though it can be smaller). Definitely a learning process.... Be sure to flatten all the layers when you export, and save as the same file type it came in as. When it asks, tell it 32 bit. So long as you didn't change the dimensions, you should end up with the same file size. If you're sure you've done everything right and the file is still slightly different in size, I seem to recall there being a workaround for it in the tutorial. |

Well, here it is. It's nothing spectacular by any stretch of the definition, but considering I was learning GIMP on the fly, I think it turned out pretty well. Presenting Zetta Ness! Download ![]() ![]() Die, radian! ![]() CRUNCH! Added to the heap! ![]() Sine! ![]() Cosine! ![]() Tangent! For my first attempt... well, it's an easy Ness texture. Baby steps. One thing I don't like about it is the black spot where Mr. Saturn used to be. I couldn't find any way of getting rid of the image other than just going over it with plain black, resulting in what you see in the snapshots. Other than that, I'm satisfied.
