We're a small community based on Super Smash Bros. Brawl. We have a ranking system, but it doesn't matter.

That's right, the rankings are like the Wii Remote Jacket: nobody cares.

If you're seeing this, that means you're a guest, which means you either haven't signed up or you haven't signed in. Unfortunately, we've had to disable guest posting, so if you want to contribute to our community, you'll need to have an account. If you make a new account with us, you'll be limited to posting in the Beginners forum. Once you make just one post there, you'll become a full-fledged member, and you can post wherever (and almost whatever) you want.

We look forward to brawling with you!

Not entirely sure yet, but I'm looking at...

Donphan, Jolteon, Suicune, Scizor, Salamence, and Infernape.

Donphan would lead and set up Stealth Rock, maybe even using Rapid Spin to clear away the opponents' rocks. It would have EQ and Ice Shard to attack with. Jolteon would have Wish and T-Wave, plus T-bolt and HP Ice. Suicune would be my wall; I'd probably go with the Resttalking variety (with Calm Mind and Surf as the other moves). Scizor is... Scizor. Just plain godly thanks to Bullet Punch. Salamence would DD, Outrage, EQ, and something else (Flamethrower or Fire Blast, probably). Infernape would be Mixape.

From what I can tell, they have pretty good synergy. Both Donphan and Jolteon can absorb Thunder Wave (and any other electric attacks aimed at Suicune). Suicune takes Fire and Ice attacks aimed at Scizor and Mence, respectively. Infernape can also take Fire attacks and destroy Heatran with CC. Suicune can also Rest away any status effects.

Currently, the three biggest threats are Scizor, Heatran, and Zapdos. Heatran shouldn't be hard to handle, and there's nothing Scizor can do to Infernape (or Suicune) besides maybe hit it really hard with Superpower. Zapdos is the problem I'm seeing here. My best bet seems to be Jolteon; I can absorb a T-bolt or T-wave and counter with HP Ice. Other major threats (Salamence, Gengar, Azelf, Infernape) look easy enough to deal with.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Gengar? Easy to deal with? I think not. A team that leads with Gengar just SCREAMS danger for your team.

Donphan would have to switch immediately or be OHKOed by Ice Beam or Energy Ball. Suicune could switch in, but it would be risking an Energy Ball. Infernape and Jolteon are too fragile to switch in on one of Gengar's powerful attacks (unless Jolteon's lucky and switches in on Thunderbolt), and Salamence is OHKOed by Ice Beam, so switching him in would be death. If your Scizor died earlier in the fight, Gengar could sweep your team fairly easily, especially with an item like Blood Orb.

And, while rare, Shidinja could pose a problem if Salamence and Infernape were KOed. Assuming Stealth Rock was removed first.

Other than that, yeah, that team looks really good.

Gengar can't learn Ice Beam; the best it can get is HP Ice. Gengar also doesn't usually have room for Energy Ball, considering it needs to run Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, T-bolt, Hypnosis or HP Ice... Not to mention things like Substitute. I'm not too worried about it. HP Ice is the one major threat. Besides, as I understand it, the cut in Hypnosis' accuracy has made Gengar not-so-great a lead.

Thanks for the input, though, it always helps to think about... well, everything. And thanks for the compliment at the end there, too. >.>

Edit: In October, Gengar was the 6th most used lead on Smogon's Shoddy server. http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47910 (Note that Deo-E has since been moved back to Ubers.)

2nd edit: And if you look at the moves Gengar was using, only 7.7% ran Energy Ball. 26.4% ran HP Ice, which is a bit more threatening...

Hypnosis and Focus Blast? Bah. That's not the type of Gengar I use. I was thinking of the moveset my Gengar's going to have. Forgot to check serebii to see what most people do. With the moveset you mentioned, I can see why Gengar wouldn't be too tough for your team to handle.\

And yeah, I didn't want to end it like that. >_>

Yeah, I just need to sit down and make it now...

I'm curious, though, about this Gengar you're using. Why Energy Ball when pseudo-Boltbeam (T-bolt, HP Ice) has virtually the same coverage and then some? Not criticizing, just curious; I'm sure there's some reason.

Well there are some types and type combinations that Bolt-Beam doesn't cover. Rock types like Tyranitar for example.

*checks serebii.net*

Ooooh. He learns Ice Punch. Whoops. I'm thinking of the wrong move.

Focus Blast takes care of that, though...

So is Hypnosis. Didn't stop it from being on practically every Gengar ever.
