We're a small community based on Super Smash Bros. Brawl. We have a ranking system, but it doesn't matter.

That's right, the rankings are like the Wii Remote Jacket: nobody cares.

If you're seeing this, that means you're a guest, which means you either haven't signed up or you haven't signed in. Unfortunately, we've had to disable guest posting, so if you want to contribute to our community, you'll need to have an account. If you make a new account with us, you'll be limited to posting in the Beginners forum. Once you make just one post there, you'll become a full-fledged member, and you can post wherever (and almost whatever) you want.

We look forward to brawling with you!

When I am brawling someone I think of one thing and one thing only, and that is making sure I beat your ass at the end of the match and then enjoying some foldgers coffee in the morning.

But how exactly can you (yourself) beat somebody's ass while you (yourself) are being whooped constantly? (in the ass)

Well this guide will help change all of that because I am here to teach you important thing that most good players already know about. Its called "Do it."

Now you are thinking to yourself...what do you mean by just "Doing it?" Well I can tell you that it is exactly as it sounds. First off, when you play as a brawl character you have to let time sink in with him/her. Make sure you feel comfortable with the character you are with. After a certain period of time you should know what actions are taken by pressing which button.

~Now you are ready to fight (after practicing for a month). If you want to land awsome moves like "the knee of justice" or the falcon punch, you dont have even 1 second to think about the delivery. Instead, just say to yourself..."Ok I think he is going to hop over me, so I will hop over him, press b then just turn around."

Now you might start yelling at me and say "Hey that actually is thinking!" Well it is not MY definition of thinking. My definition of thinking is this:

When one has time to settle down and ponder the situation while it is taking place at the very moment

Other people might say its just thinking ahead of time but I personally believe thats a full load of baloney.

So take it from me, next time you are in a match dont think..just do

Yeah but the problem with doing, is when you keep getting yer butt kicked and you need to find a new way to fight that person while not being overstocked cuz of it

Of course the mode of "Just Doing" can evolve indimew. If you do not believe in it however then of course it may not work in the heat of battle. That is the key thing in this technique "believing"

Overthinking is the act of thinking too much.

My philosophy however is that you should not think at all, even up to the point of being unaware that you are even a fully coincious human being.

Sounds like a great philosophy, not only for SSBB and gaming in general, but for life. ^_^

But yeah, I also have to disagree with it. Although, I believe there to be a point in gaming where thought and action are simultaneous, so much so that it's as if you have read your opponents moves ahead of time.

But as far as playing online goes, I think button lag is enough to justify planning ahead just a little.

Button lag really does help sometimes.

Also I kinda meant what you said Wario but didn't use the right words to convey it.

I agree. Thinking too much slows your reflexes and can make you take fewer risks in a match. I find that if I'm really tired I actually do better because my mind stops working and instinct takes over.

I think that overthinking is a problem, yes... but thinking at all is certainly not something you want to stop doing. Sure you have instincts, but analysis takes place every time, whether you know it or not. Thinking and planning ahead is always good. For example I could be fighting a pikachu who does nothing but spam B, and I could just go with instinct and use mach tornado to get over there, and get myself killed by thunder or dsmash. Or I could be smart about it and jump a few feet in the air, glide over, cancel the glide early and use my dsmash to outrange both of pikachu's attacks. Thinking is important, but overthinking certainly isn't a good thing.
