Been able to get a replay from an SD card yet? I'm trying to right now, but the only things appearing in the camera's folder (on the computer) are pictures, not videos....They don't appear on the camera either. |

Yeah, despite lack of usefulness being that they can only be played via SSBB. Root\private\wii\app\RSBE\rp |

Wait.....What? Root of what? Edit: Actually, never mind if they can't be played outside of Brawl. |

Root directory of the SD card that is, sorry for the confusion.' Edit: And yeah.. kinda sucks. But, it does reduce file size immensely having button presses and other stats in the file instead of an actual video. Oh well... at least screenshots can be decrypted. |

My brother and I tried. I wanted to get my own footage for my GMV I made. I found the replay file on the card, but it was some weird file. So we looked it up and found a converter to convert those kinds of files into playable video files, but it didn't work right, but that may be because we only got the trial version and the instructions weren't that clear. But you can convert it into a playable video file, you just got to find the right software. The fact that you might not be able to find the software for free is a different story. |

Actually, I've been reading and the replay does not work like a video file. According to Smashboards and a bunch of other random forums, the file is just a bunch of commands used to mimic the battle that was recorded. So you can't really convert that unless you're a crazy hacker guy with way too much time on your hands. >_> |

Actually, I believe you are mistaken Kuro-chan. What you are referring to is probably the video converter for actual wii video files. (Files ripped off the disk itself, the very character models, sounds, image, and video data) This would be useful for such as the intro video and any of the SSE scenes. My replay files seem to max out around 50KB, not really enough to store a decent video. (In fact, my sig is larger than that) EDIT: And Berserk beats me to the punch!

Well, I did find a converter for those kinds of files, but that may be why it didn't work right. ><;; I dunno. I'm not some computer genius or whatever. |

Yea, BS got it. It's basically a text file that lists all the buttons pressed during the match, who pressed em, and when the pressed em. Then the game just puts it all together and plays it. Halo 3 does the same thing with saved films...it's much more preferable to video files, since you're not restricted to what was recorded. You can move the camera around, see what other people see, pause, record new videos from inside other videos, take screen shots, and all that other good stuff. Also, the size constraints would make it impossible to save videos AS videos on the Wii. A 10 minute match, in decent quality is over a gig when I convert them onto my computer as MPEGs, so your memory on the SD card or the Wii itself would be taken up almost instantly... |
