Just thought another poll would be nice. This one about the Pokémon generations. This is everything about the gens; the games, the Pokémon, the moves, the region, everything. Myself, I have always been fond of the second gen. My favourite playable trainer, rival, region, legendary, side game (Pokémon Stadium 2), starter, and it has Silver version, which is one of the reasons my name is Silver Dragoon. |

I voted for the 1st gen, but what I'm actually voting for is FireRed and LeafGreen. I wasn't sure if that went in 3rd or 1st. |

FireRed and LeafGreen are technically 3rd Gen because of the new Pokemon, but since the entire thing takes place in Kanto it's more 1st gen than 3rd. And I voted for 1st gen. Until I discover the wonders of Johto, Kanto will still be my favourite region. |

Ohhhhhhhh...I dont know lol. 2nd gen because the thrill of the chase of the legendaries and the awesomeness that is Lugia, Ho-oh, Suicune, Entei and Raikou. First gen has more sentimental value for me. Remember the old commercials? It was a net, coming over a group of pokemon with the words "Gotta Catch Em All" I bought the game thinking I would chase things with a net...and then was surprised when I began to play lol. Second Gen, once again, for the better sprites and excitement of new worlds and new legendaries. Third gen is a favorite too only because it became more involved. Stories about the origin of the world and other stuff began to appear. Team Magma and Team Aqua seemed more malicious and easier to hate. Really made it fun to chase after them and kick their ass. Also gave a look into the bigger, heavier, legendaries. Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, I'm lookin at you guys. Fourth gen is even MORE involved. I like the co-existence shown between humans and pokemon in this one, especially the legends about the psychic trio and Dialga and Palkia's mix in. I enjoyed having a rival as well as a buddy, and the mystery and excitement the game kept throughout the story progression. Come on, a mysterious girl in black keeps showing up in weird places? How cool is that? The enemies weren't as easy to hate, but they were still standard to pokemon games in general. Plus, some of the new ones have unexpectedly become instant favorites, (Luxray and Gastrodon) Yeaaah...sorry for the rant. ^-^ |

I voted 1st gen, call me old fashioned. I mean come on, mewtew pwns all. I still dont know what makes him so cool. Maybe its the tail. Or the evilness... Wouldnt it be cool if they took all the things that make cool, cool, and put them on a pokemon. Imagine it- an evil tail. Maybe give it a head too. Ok, maybe thats just wierd. Humanity is doomed! Run for your lives! *screams like a four-year-old-girl and runs away (also like a four-year-old-girl)*. |

I think MewTwo holds as a favorite since he was the only pokemon genetically created in a lab from the very first true legendary (Mew) Also, when raiding Silph you found bits and pieces of a story telling of a violent pokemon. Also...you had to WORK for MewTwo. That boy did not go down easy, nevermind the Recover move that would pick him back up. In the first gen games, his stats would top high 300s to low 400s in almost every stat section. You could wipe anyone out with hiim so the elite four never stood a chance. Plus he could learn almost anything. And then you have the first movie where he's violent and misunderstood. It's PROVEN gamers love their violent, evil, and misunderstood characters that are a combination of good and evil. |

You could wipe out anyone with any Psychic type in first gen. They were vastly overpowered. |

True, first gen- Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Charmander Second Gen- Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile Third gen- Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip Fourth gen- Chimchar, Turtwig and Piplup. The first gen red and blue games had powerful starters. Compared to all of the starters in Diamond and Pearl though, they've been toned down intensely. Charizard could kick anyones butt in Red...not so in Pearl or Diamond. In all around toughness...Mudkip has to be one of the best starters. |

Infernape is the best 3rd evolution of any starter, imo. |

Can't go wrong with a fire/ground type, depending on who you're facing. I like Torterra, but he's kind of weak in my opinion. Can't withstand a fire attack. 1 hit KOs mostly. |

I like Torterra... first starter I've liked since GSC. Mostly because I'd just like to have one to ride around on. Seriously, your own mobile park?! |

I adore Torterra's design. Rocks AND trees. Seriously. It's a walking plant thing. You could probably plant flowers on him, or at least set up a lawn chair lol. |

I think that this shows what many old-school Pokemon fans feel about the new games (not me, though) |

Nah, it's not an indication of dislike so much as "These games are great, but we like these more." Seriously, at least 75% of the IRC consists of Pokemon talk. |

Oh, I'm not talking about you guys. I mean more about what some other people, particularly quite a few anti-Lucario people on the Brawl boards, are like. |

Despite the fact that I love the first Generation, and IMO it has the best starters out of any of them... I can't help but feel that the second generation was the most epic by far. It's the only game that has TWO regions you can go between. Sixteen Gym leaders, and you get to see the outcome of all of the hard work you put into the first game. Lance, the ex-head of the elite four, becomes some badass wanderer who ends up being champion. Koga, Fuchsia City Gym leader heads to the elite four to take the second spot. All of the old gym leaders are there except for one. Just one. Giovanni, leader of team Rocket is nowhere in sight. Who took his place you ask? Your rival from the first games! Blue of course! How amazing is that? IMO it has the best legendaries outside of MewTwo. The dogs, and two birds was priceless and amazing. It had some of the biggest advancements in it's generation and, it brought about two of the best eevee evolutions, making them all that more popular. Two regions, familiar faces, bunches of years later. It was epic. |
