We're a small community based on Super Smash Bros. Brawl. We have a ranking system, but it doesn't matter.

That's right, the rankings are like the Wii Remote Jacket: nobody cares.

If you're seeing this, that means you're a guest, which means you either haven't signed up or you haven't signed in. Unfortunately, we've had to disable guest posting, so if you want to contribute to our community, you'll need to have an account. If you make a new account with us, you'll be limited to posting in the Beginners forum. Once you make just one post there, you'll become a full-fledged member, and you can post wherever (and almost whatever) you want.

We look forward to brawling with you!

I just finished this book today, and I must say... I was unimpressed.

Sure, it's a fine critique of society and an interesting look into a teenage boy's mind, but you tend to lose sight of that due to all the whining that Holden Caulfield does. Instead of being shown how "phony" life is, all you get is a heavy dose of *****ing. <_<*

And sure, it had a heartwarming ending about finding joy in small things and finding meaning in one's life. But by that point, I was so glad to just be done dealing with Holden that the impact was lost on me.

-_- I dunno, maybe I'm just some illiterate, uneducated caveman. What do you guys think?

It's a very generational book. Once you get past the 13-16 age bracket, you just won't enjoy the book as much. It's a fine book regardless, but like I said, you have to be in the age bracket of angst to get everything out of it. Altogether, A Clockwork Orange is a far superior book.

...I still like when he gets beat up by a pimp.

Hated that book. Read it for summer reading, and barfed every time he said phony. Needless to say, my organs had to be put back into my body via IV tubes by the time it was over.

Honestly, why would any author make a main character so dang annoying when he/she is trying to get a point across?

Yeah, like I said, it's hard to focus on the book's ideas when you just want the narrator to shut up.

Definitely not my favorite.

...

I loved that book...

Then again, I liked Brave New World more than 1984 and hated To Kill a Mockingbird, so I guess I'm just weird.

You're not alone there. And I've never read this book, but thanks for the warning. >_>

I liked both BNW and 1984. I never got around to reading TKAM, though.
