Prob'ly better introduce myself to prevent any further confusion....

I'm Sasha, aka KFox, also Kuro, Kuro Fox, or Kuroseishin.

Followed meh buddy Doobz here.

Been playin' Pokemon since I was ten, never owned the original Smash Bros. (but rented it a number of times), played Melee for five years, got Brawl on launch day. In Melee I mained Pikachu, and I'm maining... about eight characters in Brawl right now. I don't have a great deal of experience playing against human opponents since I lacked any IRL gamer friends, so this online thing is pretty nifty.

I go to some fancy art college where I'm going to study Animation. Which is not art, apparently. I draw stuff. :B

Heh, I might end up having eight mains by this point... Luigi, Ike, PT, Toon Link, Zelda, Lucas... that's six right there (or eight if you count all three of PT's Pokemon; I don't use Sheik that much).

Anyways, welcome.

Hallo all.

Yeah, I'll start narrowing it down soon. Right now it's mostly MK, PT, Pit, and Pikachu, although there's some others I'm seriously considering.

Well... well... damn.

Although I could play online just fine at home, I'm having no end of trouble getting set up here at college. As in, the lag is so bad, it cut off the match when we got to "Three" on the countdown.

I haven't totally given up on finding another way to get it working, but until I do, I can't play any online matches.

Well, there are multiple ways to make it work better...

For instance, where is the router thats sending out your wireless signals??

From what I understand, she's basically on top of the wireless hub. The Wii gets great signal, but once you get to Brawl it all goes down hill. Error codes and lag run rampant. And they were using the Friend Code system, so it wasn't just the general phailure associated with the 'Fight Anyone' options... I can't imagine what the problem is. I've never heard of good connection with the Wii itself, but bad connection within a game...

Okay, second, are you playing with people inside the dorms orrrrrr friends elsewhere, cause if it's elsewhere, it could be THEIR lag. OR under the unfortunate circumstance, your servers network is being overrun and used by tons of people, then of course you'll experience terrible lag.

It's probably the last one. It's a pretty big college, and I'm sure there's a million people using the wireless. If only there was a way to connect the Wii online WITH WIRES. What's wrong with wires anyway? Wires aren't that bad...

Personally, I keep my network clean as a whistle, and the way I do that is by connecting my home computer and my XBOX360, via a wire. So therefore, there's no wireless trafficing, other than my laptop which I set to have low priority over my Wii anyways, so I don't put out any ping for lag.
If that were to be the case then, I would ALSO make sure your wii is set to channel 11 >_> sometimes some ports allow better access to the router than others, and online play in general could increase.

I can't say that I've been here long enough to say so.

But hi there. Welcome.

I main Olimar. Whee.

And about the lag, I still blame the servers. I mean, there are so many people playing Brawl at once over Nintendo's ONE server.

Seriously Nintendo? One server?

That's like ordering a hotdog with all bun and no wiener.

Actually... It's nothing like that at all. But that'd be a pretty kickass metaphor if it did make sense.

Hullo Jin, Necrode, Drift!

Yeahhhh, if only it was *my* network... I've set up two wireless systems (for my two places of residence back home) and they work great. But here I'm stuck with the college's network. I suspect that one part of the problem may be that all 2000 people on my campus share the exact same IP address. Probably the same server too.

My comp has a wired connection to the same network, which says it runs at 100 mbps, and it works fine for the internet. Downloads tend to be slow though.

For the test match I was fighting a friend of mine who I've fought before, and we've never had more than minor lag. Certainly nothing like this.

I looked up all the different error codes I received and they basically said the same thing-- that something was wrong with Nintendo's server and I should wait until it got better. But since there's also the college's server along the way, it might be reading input from that, which could explain the variety of codes.

I've come up with one more idea-- there's one stronger point of wireless in one of the campus buildings, so if I borrowed a $1600 projector and a set of speakers from av services, went there late at night and found an empty classroom... well, it wouldn't exactly be practical, but I haven't come up with anything else yet... I'll start making arrangements for another set of tests I suppose. I'll also try channel 11.

Drift, don't you mean wiiner? (ba-da-ching!)

The only possible solution to your college problem is this.

Go to DU. 94% of their campus is the best wireless you can have, including outside. You're required to have a laptop, thus they give you amazing wireless. 2nd college in the US to require a laptop. <_<

haha just kidding <_<

yeah well...... wireless isn't always easy x.x

Hullo Ayo!

Jin- DU as in University of Denver?

I ROCK WOOHOO!

Actually, yes, yes, yes I do.

I can't believe it, but my crazy setup involving the projector and an empty classroom? Well... IT WORKS.

.... Really, really well. Doob says I've got the best signal on his entire list. XD;

Crazy, man. Absolutely, positively insane.

SO here's the deal, kiddies: I can rent out that projector once a week for 24 hours, or 48 hours if I get it on a Saturday.

Meaning, iffin' ya wants some fightin', you gotta give me several days notice so we can do time arranging. PMs or AIM (hiryuu seishin) work great.

For now, I've reserved it for this Saturday evening and Sunday. Anyone up for a few rounds? (just for fun atm-- I'm a tad out of practice)

That sounds like a pretty sweet setup, actually.

Maybe we can have some matches this weekend.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure Jin meant Duke University.
