The US release of Brawl is over a month away, and the first GSF tournament (seen here: GSF Main Page) is about a week after that. So it's probably a bit early to be going over this. However, going over the details now is better than waiting. So here it is. The Ides of March tournament has open registration, meaning there are no preliminary or qualifying rounds. It will be done in elimination format. Participants will be assigned an opponent, who they must then fight with a referee present, or record the fight. The winner of the tournament will receive VC games of their own choice, up to a value of $50, as well as the title of Smasher Augustus. If you plan to join this tournament, now's as good a time as any to sign up. Entrants: Ezekiel Doob Zurz Berserker Swordsman Giga Drill Breaker Memento Mori Sarkin ZOOOM-BEEE YOOOU-DEEE Tarsir |

VC games can only be gifted to people in your region, fyi. So if you live in the US, if someone wins who isnt in the US is screwed. And um...how do you plan to work the referee thing if we can't record? >_> |

If there's a GSF-approved referee who's not competing there won't be a need to record. It's one or the other. Not being able to record shouldn't be an issue, anyway, since it's a feature of Brawl. That reminds me, right now we might not have enough referees. If anyone's interested in becoming one, just PM me. |

Well... Hmm. I didn't know about the gifting restrictions. Maybe if someone from another region wins, someone from that region could give out the prize, and we could send that person compensation....? Gah, I dunno. I'm sick and can't think straight. X_X As for the recording, I really don't think it's a problem. As Zeke pointed out, it's a feature of Brawl, and from what I understand, those videos can be sent to other players, so a ref can review them easily. And it's pretty easy to record matches and put them on Youtube, too. We'll probably be doing that for championship fights. And, also as Zeke stated, matches with a ref present won't need to be recorded at all (except for championship matches, which will be recorded more for watching than for officiating). |

It's March 15th right? That's a Saturday, so I can compete. Don't have any college classes on Saturday. Sign me up for that. I have a capture card for the computer too, so if a ref can't make it to any fight I'm in, I can still upload it to youtube or something for their scrutiny. I'll have to find out my friend code soon and put it on that other thread...hate these friend code things....it could be so much more simpler. |

Chances are that, due to the inability of refs and competitors to be available at the same time, our tournaments will last more than a day. Unfortunately. Of course, we could schedule our matches, and if one player fails to show, he/she automatically loses.... In one way, it's completely fair, but in another, it's definitely not.... |

Hmm, yea I could see how orchestrating a group off around like that can be problematic. In that case I'd suggest we plan thee matches a bit in advance, and leave that schedule up for a while. If anyone has any problems, modify it until it's satisfactory. If a person does not show up for their match, since I'm sure we're a group of understandable people, find out why they couldn't, another day they can, and schedule a rematch. Of course, if a person habitually misses their match, THEN you hit them with the automatic loss. I'm sure it'll be a little rocky to begin with, but we'll get the hang of it eventually. |

Maybe we could just schedule a day and the contenders can figure out what time? |

I'm thinking we'll do something very similar to that. It's still unclear, though, exactly how it'll work, as we only have a few refs. |

We have a plan if the winner is opposed to taking the prize. That'll be revealed... if it ever comes up. |

I've now added a list of the current entrants to the first post (if a name is on there mistakenly, tell me). We have six now, I'd like to get that number to eight at least. |

How about opening the entrance to around Wednesday or so? Advertising right now would be a good idea, what with the game out now and all. |

I'm not sure what you mean. We can't actively advertise things based on our forum to other forums, it'll just get modded. Although, I am willing to take that risk. Right now, in fact. |

Hm. Well, this is looking bad. We might have to make it a Round Robin tournament instead of Elimination if we don't get some more competitors. |
